Autobattler 64
==============

An auto-battler for the Nintendo 64, played here in the ares emulator (ares v148, ISC
licence, https://ares-emu.net). Build up an army in the shop, place it on the board, and
watch it fight. Solo is you against three bots; PARTY is four players with four pads.

How to start
------------
ares has no ready Linux download, so install it first, one of:
  flatpak install flathub dev.ares.ares
  or your distribution's ares package (Arch: ares-emu)
then run ./play.sh in this folder.

Keyboard (player 1)
-------------------
  Move the cursor ......... Arrow keys or W A S D
  A pick up / place / buy Space or J
  B  drop / close ......... Backspace or K
  Z open the shop ........ Left Shift or L
  R  tap: bench <-> shop,   E
     hold: info on a unit
  L  reroll the shop ...... Q   (Q + E together: buy XP)
  C buttons  camera ....... T F G H  (G while holding a unit: sell it)
  Start pause / ready .... Enter (Enter twice: ready for the fight)

On the title screen: Enter plays, L (Z button) shows how to play.

An Xbox One S pad or an 8BitDo pad in X-input mode over Bluetooth works for player
1 with no setup: the bottom button is A, the left one B, RT is Z, LB/RB are L/R, the
right stick is the C buttons. Any other pad: bind it once in ares under
Settings > Input (Virtual Gamepad 1-4).

Change any key in ares under Settings > Input (Nintendo 64 > Controller Port 1).
Esc gives you the mouse back; F11 is fullscreen in most ares builds.
